after the whole fridge re-arrangement the night just got better. the girl with the lease tells me her boyfriend is moving in while he looks for a house – as he walks in the door with his stuff. I was just like – GREAT! so what went from being a 3 girl household, were I could do my own thing, is now a 5 person household, because the other girl has her mum from china staying for a month! I mean who else can we fit in this place. I guess that what ‘everyone’ told me about share houses. They are never as good as you think.

so although it is a temporary move in, I wont be surprised if he is still here in a month. I will wait and see how it works out, i am on a 6 month contract. at the moment i am not thrilled. it is nice and close to work, clean enough, nice area but too quiet and not particularly made to feel very welcome or that I am part of the household. Just feel like I am a temp stayer in her place.

I came home from work today to my share house – which I have only been in for 2 weeks. one of the girls had completely re-arranged the fridge. it was most random. Before we all had our own shelf for our own stuff, which worked well for me. But now everything was arranged in groupings. so all the cheese, butter was on one shelf, fruit etc down the bottom and it was all just jumbled up. Was really annoying because then I couldn’t find my food. so i just grabbed all my stuff and dumped it on the now empty shelf. I guess it doesn’t bother me that much, but it is just weird that she probably spent 15 mins re-arranging it all. come one, why don’t you sweep up all your hair which is all over the bathroom floor. I am not being rude but these 2 girls seems to shed extraordinary amounts of hair. I used to share a bathroom with my 2 sisters and we never had that much hair on the floor. it just doesn’t make sense.

saturday – 2 minute noodles

in other news – have just about survived a week in Canberra. getting better. its a bit different but i am becoming used to looking after myself again. gets a bit quiet in the evenings, home by myself really. plus the tv has no channel 9 and channel 7 is a bit dodgy. although by the time i cook dinner and all that it is late enough to go to bed.

work is super friendly – very nice environemnt. everyone is heaps welcoming and happy to have you join in. and the work isn’t too bad either.

So I have succesfully arrived and set my room up in Canberra. I start work tomorrow and all prepared – just need to do some ironing! I made a google map of a walk I took today, after my big shop in the morning. After filling my cupboards up with food, my chinese room-mates mother (who is staying for a month) cooked lunch which was great – all I had for breakfast was a kiwi fruit. Side note – food is very expensive, although i got a toaster for $17! lets see how long it will last…

So then wanted to figure out how to walk from my place to work for tomorrow morning. It is really easy, 10 minutes maximum, so as long as no rain in the morning I will do that. I don’t have to be there until 9 so even if I leave at 8.30am will give me heaps of time. So that also means I won’t need to get up early!

I then continued on the walk as it was a cool, but sunny day here in Canberra. Found video ezy, blockbuster, some chinese and thai takeaway. also petrol stations, bunnings, markets etc. It is all very odd in Canberra – the layout is very different. Every area with shops has a huge outdoor car park. very empty feel too – it was Sunday and sunny but hardly anyone else out walking and saw almost no one in houses etc, just very quiet. always cars going past though.

until tomorrow…
