arrived in LA today. very exciting!I saw the Hollywood sign from my plane window as we were flying in. Kind of feel silly getting excited over stuff like that, but at the same time it is hyped up so much and you see it on TV shows and movies so you can’t help but also getting excited.
Staying in Santa Monica for 2 nights. The beach is amazing. So much sand (i am in heaven) and stretched as far as the eye can see both directions. Some sun baking coming up tomorrow!!
Plus I put $2 in this machine, expecting only 20 mins, but the timer has frozen so been on for an hour and a half now. Love when free stuff happens, so great!!!
well I leave vancouver tommorrow for seattle, which I am really looking forward to. The past week has just been a waiting period before I go into the states, so somewhat dull at times. Although the weather has been great, the past week all sun and blue skies, not a rain cloud in sight. Definitely summer weather which I love!
Been on a few bike rides to stanley park. although kept falling off which was quite odd. The bike’s brakes were super grippy, so every time I used them kind of threw me off balance. Just been out sitting in the sun along the seawall here, reading some Harry Potter, trying to work on the tan. it is amazing how all the people here come and lie on the grass in their swimmers. Kind of seems odd but I guess it is because they have no beaches.
woo hoo!!!!!!
The socceroo’s have made it into the round 16 of the world cup. This is so exciting. Australia hasn’t had a team in the competition for 32 years, and to make it through the first rounds is just amazing!!!
A win over, Japana 3-1, loss to brazil 0-2 and todays draw with Croatia 2-2 has been enough to get us through.
Today’s match was so tense. After a great free kick in the first 2 mins, croation led, but was equalised late in the first half from a penalty kick by craig moore (handball by croatia in the box).
Then tragedy, our goalie fumbled badly to give croatia the lead back, however kewell finally scored a world cup goal equalising the game to 2 all. The last 10 minutes were so nerve wracking, I was actually feeling nervous every time the croations got near our goal, fearing the worst. I think everyone was crazy as 3 red cards were given out in the last 10 mins as both sides fought to stay in the game.
Annyway, Aussie, Aussie, Aussie, Oi, Oi, Oi!!!
Go Australia!!!
well in my travels on the canadian west coast i have been wildlife spotting crazily. I have seen in the last week, grey whales, a black bear (from a safe distance), a chipmunk, black and brown squirrels and a racoon. Wow, it seems quite full on, like I have been out on a wildlife chase. But apart from the whales and bear everything else was just pure luck. Although as they have such short warm months everything is out enjoying the sun like all us homo sapiens.
So to get back to Vancouver, from Banff I have travelled with Judy to Kelowna, it is about a 14 hr trip straight to Vancouver so we broke it up by stopping in Kelowna for a few nights. It was really nice, right next to a huge lake. Could walk around in thongs, t-shirts alongside the lake which was very pretty. We were lucky too as we got some really nice weather, all hot and sunny.
But now in Vancouver and it is kind of boring. The weather is a little shitty, all overcast and I am staying with a friend and her family. Only been here 2 days but I can't sit around and do nothing, so need to get myself active or will just get too bored. Plus my friend has been in a great mood! I guess even though I am glad I am not working anymore, it did give a bit of purpose to the day and week.
