I have left sunshine village behind me. Was a bit sad as who knows when I will ever be back, but also ready to move on and be a nomadic traveller.
So my first stop has been Calgary. Have family friends to stay with, a lovely older couple. Wandered around the city yesterday (24th May). pretty much a city, although more people cycle to work. I guess because it is in the middle of prairie lands and it is pretty flat. They also have this walkway system called the +15. Basically in winter when the weather is shitty can walk around downtown through this raised walkways, 15m above the ground. Pretty funky although makes it a lot easier not to have to go outside.
Just chilling here before I leave to go back to Banff and ultimately Vancouver.
1. Grab the nearest book.
2. Open the book to page 123.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the text of the sentence in your journal along with these instructions.
5. Don’t search around and look for the “coolest” book you can find. Do what’s actually next to you.
"The Master calls for his coat." (Gregory Maguire – Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister)
I won $30 at bingo last night, won two games so was pretty stoked. Normally don't get that lucky. However Dave had to go and top it by winning the $100 grand prize.
On another note, this may be the last entry in a while because this is my last day at work. Which means I will no longer have free internet access all the time, boo hoo.
It is pretty shitty, weather wise up here. Meant to be a beach party so I have a pink lai on, but the clouds have come in, it is cold and raining. So great!
Tomorrow I am going rafting, which will be fun fun fun.
so, laters. who knows where in the world I will be next time I write in this.
So when the action happens I am down at the base away from it all. We just got a call from dispatch, letting us know that all the lifts and gondola were closed because of a thunderstorm in the village!!! It is apparently pouring down up there. pretty crazy, I don't think this happens very often. But the snow will be even more shitty now after all that rain on it.
In other news, my friends saw a bear yesterday. it was off the access road into sunshine. Now I am very jealous. I want to see one in the wild before I leave here, but from the safety of my car for sure!
wow, it has been so hot here the last couple of days. Went into town on Sunday and was seriously considering wearing shorts, wish I had though as it was warm! Great to walk outside at the moment, went and looked at the Bow River Falls, lovely little track along the river. Bought some bread and juice from Kellers and just sat on a park bench and enjoyed the sun.

Yesterday (16th May) was possibly my last snowboard of the season. And couldn't have asked for better conditions. It must have been almost 20, everyone riding in just t-shirts. Total slush everywhere but it is just fun. We hit the terrain park, did a few jumps. The landing is so soft that you can just have fun, see my pic!!! Came back in however and looked at my arms – all red!!! pretty much all the staff are walking around with some burnt patches on them. I have a weird one because I had my gloves on with my sleeves pushed up to my elbows, so the skin showing is all red but evreything else is white.
